I find a lot of confusion among new internet marketers when they ask the question, “What is Niche Marketing?”. If you try to find a simple answer online, you often end up more confused than you were when you began looking for answers. Simply put, niche marketing is when you narrow down a product or service to the point where you become a specialist.

The last statement, “training my poodle not to bark at cats is your new niche, and you will create marketing material based on how to train poodles to not bark at cats.

A very wise (and wealthy) internet marketer once told me that when people are searching the internet just for information on a product, they will use broad terms like “netbooks”, or even “netbook review”. But when people have their credit cards in hand and are ready to buy, they often will look for the exact name and model of the product. That statement alone has made me a lot of money over the past year.

As online marketers, our responsibility to our readers is to give them as much good quality information as possible. We sell our products and services to help solve problems, and answer questions. Niche marketing means researching a niche, and having the best knowledge and tools to start making money online. Use the question, What is niche marketing as a mantra, think about the products and services you buy, and what makes them useful to you, and get out there and make your money!
