There is only one way to earn real money in affiliate program sales: promote, promote, and promote some more! For the new marketer, it is crucial that you keep your costs down. Even if you are experienced in the business, it is simply senseless to spend money needlessly. Here are some suggestions as to how you may promote your affiliate product without spending a dime in advertising.
1. First write an article.
Articles are one of the oldest and most trusted ways of spreading the word about your affiliate product on the net. Getting an article published is simple, even if you are not a particularly gifted writer. But— don’t be too brash with your affiliate promotion in your article.
Send your article to the top five or six most highly ranked article directories. Send a re-written version of it to the next ten or twenty most popular directories. The point of the re-write is to avoid any duplicate content penalties from the search engines.
As a guideline, avoid talking about your product directly. Strive to provide good quality information relevant to your affiliate niche. For example, if your niche is “building doll-houses”, then give the reader some tips as to how they can best solve common doll-house building problems.
Top article directories (and you should always deal with the very best) will not allow you to do a blatant affiliate program sales promotion. Learn to be a little bit subtle!
Once you have given, you now have permission to take. You may include your website (top level domains ONLY) in your resource box at the bottom of the article. If you have been able to sell yourself to the reader as an expert of some sort, you stand a good chance of getting the click.
You can earn real money with this strategy.
But wait, there’s more!–
2. Now, repackage your article as a tutorial. This means a change of wording and a change of format to give your article more of a “how-to” feel. Sites like eHow are great places to publish this sort of educational material. Tutorial sites get good traffic, and you’re ahead of the game because most article writers would never think to do this. Plus— it’s still free.
3. Having made your article into a tutorial, now turn THAT into a Powerpoint presentation, being sure to include your URL. Submit it to Slideshare and similar sites, and find yourself with yet another traffic source that comes to you… totally free.
4. And finally turn your Powerpoint into a video. You can still do this for free using CamStudio, or you can trade up a step and use Camtasia.
You can start afresh, or your can simply use your PowerPoint and add audio– your own voice, if you think you can do this well, or find someone with a bit of dramatic flair to do this for you.
If you want to spend money on this, there is a site called Article Video Robot which will turn your article into a video complete with music and voice-over for a monthly fee. Have not tried them myself– why don’t you check it out and tell the rest of us?
What are your overall results now? Well, you wrote one article, and published it in four different formats!
There are plenty of other sources of free traffic. Article directories and social bookmarking sites are among the most popular, but they are only the tip of a very large iceberg.
If you are willing to put in the work of converting your article into some non-article format, there will almost certainly be some way of getting it into the public domain at no cost. Pdf.’s. .exe files and RSS feeds are all sources of traffic you can exploit. You can try these out on your own.
One last word: You can earn real money in affiliate program sales if you will commit to publishing your articles in as many formats as you can.
